Anxiety in Learning German as a Foreign Language: Its Association with Learners Variables

This study aims to investigate the foreign language anxiety (FLA) level among learners of German as a and discover relationship between FLA students’ variables that are gender, year study, achievement in classes, experience staying Germany for more than six months, weekly contact hours, course load term. The used quantitative research method using survey approach. Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS), developed by Horwitz (1986), was administered 246 Jordan. Descriptive statistics, Chi-Squared, univariate multivariate ordinal logistic regression analysis were analyse collected data then fitted on model. results suggest participants’ moderate level, with Class most dominant aspect Text least aspect. gender participants their hours did not determine learning language. significantly affected anxiety, whether high or low German-language assessment score, months studying field training, total number credit registered It is recommended instructors create positive friendly attitude towards students reduce classroom.
